Miracle at Šargan

Ljubomir Simović's anthological drama "Miracle at Šargan", in the adaptation and direction of Egon Savin, brings a spirit of poetic realism to the Grand Stage of the National Theatre. Set in a peripheral tavern called "Šargan" where it rains without pause, the production follows the fates of marginalised figures — waitresses, politicians, beggars, former convicts — whose lives are intertwined with a parallel narrative of two soldiers from the First World War who still wander in search of justice.

Ivan Bosiljčić delivers a notable performance as Anđelko, becoming part of an impressive acting ensemble that stages all the tragedy, comedy and absurdity of human existence. Savin's directorial concept powerfully emphasises social hopelessness, making this production a universal story about injustice, hopes, haves and have-nots — packed into a unique and recognisable metaphorical language.
