The Imaginary Invalid

In this innovative staging of Molière's celebrated comédie-ballet, directed by Nikola Zavišić, audiences are presented with a unique vision of Molière as actor and theatre troupe leader — and as a man. Ivan Bosiljčić plays the title role of Argan in a production that ventures behind the curtain, following events at the fourth performance of this play on 17 February 1673 — the very day when the famous playwright and actor was literally fighting for his life on stage.

Alongside the playful comic performance and lavish musical and theatrical elements characteristic of Molière's original genre, this production carries a delicate, almost tragic note, uniting word, music and dance into a layered and visually striking theatrical event.
