Lilacs

"Lilacs" (2024) is a sharp, satirical comedy directed by Siniša Cvetić that offers Serbian audiences a completely original perspective on the world of show business in Serbia. The film follows Igor (Ivan Bosiljčić) and Katarina (Sloboda Mićalović), the lead actors of a popular melodramatic series "When the Lilacs Bloom". On screen they are inseparable partners, but in reality they are on the verge of divorce, blinded by flashbulbs and deafened by applause.

Everything changes at an awards ceremony for the best series of the year, where the entire cast assembles. Through a night full of absurdity, vanity and comic situations, the true face and reverse side of the domestic film and television industry are laid bare. It quickly becomes clear to viewers that the main characters' real lives are a far greater and darker melodrama than the one they are filming. The film broke box office records in cinemas, bringing a breath of fresh air to Serbian cinema with its authentic authorial vision.
