Lazar's Path

"Lazar's Path" (2024) is an arthouse mystery directed by Ivan Jović that explores profound existential questions of the search for meaning, identity and inner freedom. The film follows the fate of a street artist named Lazar, who after years of wandering arrives on a small Mediterranean island. His burning desire to return home turns into a Kafkaesque nightmare when he encounters the island's incomprehensible bureaucracy.

Carrying a heavy black box containing his "complete documentation", Lazar visits a series of officials whose questions probe ever deeper into his private life. Ivan Bosiljčić brings the title role of Lazar to the screen in one of the most demanding and complex performances of his career. The film was shot on authentic locations on the Greek islands of Santorini and Folegandros, as well as in the tunnels of Petrovaradin Fortress. It has already been recognised at numerous festivals, including the Bata Živojinović Award for Best Actor at the Sopot Film Festival and Best Director at the Cyprus International Film Festival.
